Commissions.

For both newly commissioned masks and sculptures there is a minimum starting fee for the first stage design process which can take anything from 5 - 10 hours. If the design is finished within this time, there will be no additional fee. If not, each extra hour will be charged.

Depending on the requirement it is possible to give an approximate quote based on the maximum time required for a commission, allowing for the end price to be reasonable.

Fee:

First stage design 160 €

Extra time per hour 18 €

Materials

Most masks are made of either paper maché and gauze. The paper mache is a mixture of paper, wood and ash compounds, combined with durable pva glues.

All the paper maché is made from the raw materials processed in EVOKE STUDIO.

Some masks have the paints mixed into the paper maché, while others are painted after this process. Some masks are a combination of one of these two final products as well as collaged paper work. These collages are painted before the application of the materials into the molds and have the paint embedded and fixed into the paper.

Unlike the masks painted at the end of the drying process these masks, if dropped are much more durable and therefore need less carefull handling if using as theatre tools.

Humidity

Paper maché loves humidity and even though the masks are fixed and sealed with varnish or shellac, they should always be kept and stored in a cool, dry place.

A little bag of salt or plaster of paris in the box or case where the masks are stored helps to keep the humidity low. These salt or palster bags should be changed regularly depending on usage and general climatic humidity rates.

After using the mask, one can hold it firmly by it's rim and wave it back forth in the air to cool it down and help dry it off of humidity and breath odours, before storing it away. _____________________________________________________________________
